Alex McLeod
APRIL 9-14, 2019
PARK HOUSE | DALLAS, TX
Curated by Muriel Quancard
For the duration of the Dallas Art Fair, McLeod’s digitally native animations will be displayed on several screens at Park House, as well as with Galerie Division in booth F27A.
McLeod draws from 3D world building technology similar to that used in cinema and video games, yet his environments conform to neither the laws of physics nor those of game design. Instead, he adopts as subject matter polygons – that is, the humble pixels or unwanted scraps of digital animation. In his hands, these pixel-like building blocks become exciting, hypnotic baubles, moving kaleidoscopically through mysterious landscapes of candied, gelatinous matter. McLeod’s anthropomorphic forms provoke a meditation on our real world and its confounding array of dissonances and harmonies.
