Improvisations was a multidisciplinary program, which engaged the local community in a dialogue around several presentations: a slideshow of Isaac Diggs and Edward Hillel's photographs of 125th Street accompanied by saxophonist Jason Marshall; a video of Jazzoetrie by The Last Poets; and video screenings of Nina Simone's 1969 Harlem festival performance, David Hammons's Phat Free, David Van Tieghem's Screening Ear, Mark Tribe's Port Huron project, and Coco Fusco's A/K/A Mrs George Gilbert.
